Landover Data Center

In Prince George’s County, we are fighting a new push to build data centers in Maryland. The County Council voted in 2019 to allow data centers to be built in residential areas and, in 2025, they established a task force to study the issue with a deadline of just nine months.

The Landover Data Center project has been the main focus of its work, which has lacked transparency, thoroughness, and fairness. With over 600 data centers online in Virginia, the regional grid is already being over-taxed, with bills starting to skyrocket for area residents.

Please contact your County Council member & both At-Large members and ask them to support the following bills and resolutions:

  1. CB-005-2026: don’t hire former ICE employees for County Employment/County Personnel
  2. CB-006-2026: limits the use of public areas for immigration enforcement; requires the county executive to develop & publish guidance related to immigration enforcement actions at County facilities (known as The Communities Safe Spaces Act)
  3. CB-007-2026: Resident kidnapping protection act: enables residents to call the PG police to verify the identity of masked persons engaging in immigration enforcement activity; requires police to respond to resident calls
  4. CB-008-2026 Prohibition on Facial Coverings for Law Enforcement: would require federal law enforcement officers to follow the same rules as our local and state officers and to perform their duties with their faces uncovered. Exceptions for undercover work, protection against fire, and other specific circumstances are allowed.
  5. CR-008-2026: protects all county public spaces by urging the MD Park & Planning Commission, the PGC Board of Education, the PGC Memorial Library System, & the PGC Community College to prohibit the use of public property under County control for the use of civil immigration enforcement
  6. CR-009-2026: accounting of ICE detainees in PG County: a partnership will be established with a non-profit entity to develop a publicly accessible list of county residents that are/have been potentially detained by ICE.

There could be a Committee of the Whole meeting on Mar 3 & these bills could be introduced to the whole council on Mar 10, with possible final votes on Mar 31. So please contact the County Council members ASAP.
