Visibility Brigade
About
IBBMD hosts a chapter of the Visibility Brigade movement. Our mission is to create awareness of our current political situation through relevant messages to motorists.
We deliver inspiration weekly with new messages commenting on relevant issues. Our goal is to remind neighbors of our nation’s emergency and to suggest simple actions they can take and encourage support of pro-democratic state and national political candidates. On overpasses, we literally stand over our messages, waving at passing cars, reminding everyday people that they are not alone in these unprecedented times.
Information
We hold weekly events on Friday and Sunday and extra events for special occasions like No Kings Day!
Our events are located on the pedestrian bridge over Rt-50 at Exit 11 (MD-197). We occasionally will expand to the MD-197 pedestrian bridge for special occasions.
Parking is plentiful and about a 5-minute walk to the bridge. No restroom facilities.
Park in the small lot adjacent to the old movie theater near the Hampton Inn or in the large movie theater lot. Follow the paved path through the fence, turn left, and continue to the bridge.
Things to Bring
Bring a chair, water, snacks, energy, and things to wave! We welcome bluetooth speakers and music! Dress for the weather or in your favorite inflatable costume.
Please Leave at Home
Signs. We love your creativity, but too many signs on the bridge is distracting for the drivers speeding by below us. We don’t want to cause or be liable for accidents. Plus, homemade signs are often too small to be seen. Save your signs for our large events.
Do not bring weapons, even legally-permitted weapons. We are committed 100% to non-violence, this extends to our messages (all family friendly) and to our attendees.
